Shabbat Shalom, Shana Tovah Umetukah, and G’mar Chatima Tovah! Best wishes for a sweet 5786.
The upcoming week will mark the second anniversary of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. There are two events happening this Sunday, October 5th in connection with the anniversary. The first is the Boulder Run 4 Their Lives walk in support of the remaining 48 hostages. You can find contact information in the article to get details on Sunday’s walk – the group is still extremely security conscious.
The second event is a free community-wide commemoration of the attack hosted by the Boulder JCC. This will take place Sunday from 4:00 to 6:30 pm; please register on the Boulder JCC’s website.
Here is Morah Yehudis‘ take on this week’s Torah Portion. Her Hebrew-year-long project is almost over — there is only one more Shabbat until we begin again at Bereshit after Simcha Torah.
As we’re sure you are aware, there is an election coming up for Boulder City Council next month. The Boulder Jewish News is an IRS 501(c)3 charitable organization, and therefore can’t comment on or advocate for or against any candidates in any election. However, Stop Antisemitism Colorado has announced their endorsements for City Council, and we thought you might be interested. You can find them here.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with our brothers and sisters under attack in the UK, Israel, Ukraine, and in Boulder. May the remaining injured from June 1’s attack have a refuah shlemah, a full and complete recovery. Am Yisrael Chai!
