Israeli and Jewish Teens in Colorado Begin a Year of Community, Leadership, and Connection

Shevet Sheleg, Tzofim North America’s newest chapter in Colorado, officially launched this year with 80 Jewish and Israeli-American participants. Built entirely from scratch over the past year, the team secured a venue, recruited youth, and trained first-time counselors. Shevet Sheleg exemplifies Tzofim’s commitment to developing leadership skills, fostering Jewish identity, and building a strong, connected community across North America.

Yaniv Biran, CEO of Tzofim North America, shared:

“For thousands of children across North America, the return to school can bring uncertainty and questions around identity. Whether Israeli teens are navigating life abroad or Jewish teens are seeking a deeper connection to Israel, the need for a meaningful community anchor is greater than ever. Through Tzofim activities, more than 5,200 participants attend weekly programs that strengthen their Jewish and Israeli identity, connect them to their local community, and celebrate Hebrew language and Israeli culture.”

At a time when many young people feel the weight of growing antisemitism, Tzofim has become more than a youth movement. It is a safe and welcoming home where Jewish and Israeli teens can fully be themselves, speak their language, celebrate their traditions, and feel a sense of belonging within a strong, supportive community.

Tzofim North America provides transformative experiences for Jewish teens. Each Shevet creates a vibrant hub where participants explore their heritage, build resilience, and form lasting friendships. Beyond weekly gatherings, members take part in annual highlights such as Machane (camps held throughout the year), leadership seminars, ceremonies marking significant Jewish and Israeli dates, hikes, community service initiatives, and delegations abroad, including to Poland. All activities are guided by the core values of the Tzofim movement.
