Adam Schiff’s censure has nothing to do with the fact that he is Jewish but everything to do with the fact he lied to Congress.

The only thing in Bruce Ticker’s column with which I can agree is that it is a considerable stretch to compare Congress’ censure of Adam Schiff with the mistreatment endured by Alfred Dreyfus and Leo Frank.

I agree with Bruce Ticker. Rashida Tlaib was lying when she said that the Nakba is the root cause of issues that continue to divide Israel and the Palestinians today.

Rashida Tlaib’s Nakba Day resolution opens with a brazen lie: “…the Nakba is the root cause of the issues that continue to divide Israel and the Palestinian people today.”

There is a fight going on right now in Israel over boundaries – not the kind meant to keep people separated, but the kind meant to keep the government separated. In Israel, the only real checks and balances of government are between the Judicial branch and parliament.

As most Americans are not familiar with the workings of Parliamentary governments, I thought BJN readers might appreciate a bit of background concerning Bruce Ticker’s remark about the Knesset’s slim majority seeking to transform the (Israeli) Supreme Court’s authority ("DeSantis Visit to Israel Not All That Kosher" Boulder Jewish News May 4, 2023).

As we write this, we are deeply disturbed by the rise of anti-Semitism in our society. It is a cancer that eats away at the very fabric of our communities and threatens the well-being of everyone. This insidious hatred must be opposed by all people of good will.

We are also saddened by the killing of George Floyd.... But we were also disappointed by some parts of the statement.

We are grieving not just for George Floyd, Tony McDade, Sean Reed, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor but for the many unnamed victims of police brutality, racial profiling, and excessive force.

Like many of you, I have been thinking of Lori Gilbert Kaye, of blessed memory, over and over for the past few days. 

JEWISHcolorado is helping to organize this Shabbat as National Solidarity Shabbat, a time to convene in your local synagogue to mourn the victims in Pittsburgh as well as to demonstrate that our Jewish communities will not be intimidated.

"...I reiterate – this is never more necessary than today – that human beings can change things for good. It is the lesson of human history. It is certainly the lesson of Jewish history."

Making our voices heard at the polls is essential, an honor and a hard-won right.

A bipartisan group of politicians in Washington just introduced the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act of 2018. All that the act does is direct that anti-Semitism, as it is manifested today, be treated comparably to racism or sexism.
