Shabbat shalom! The countdown to regular food is now in its final phase, normality just a few hours away. BJN hopes you’ve had a good Passover.
The week started with a bit of turmoil, however, as both the Boulder JCC and Congregation Har HaShem on Monday received envelopes with white powder and anonymous hate notes. Boulder’s first responders arrived quickly when called, and resolved both situations as quickly as possible, finding that the powder in both cases was not toxic. Jonathan Lev, Executive Director of the BJCC, said this at the end of the week:
All activities have resumed at the JCC as we celebrate Passover and our building continues to be filled with preschool activities, music classes, parenting groups, teen events, lunch and learns, and more. As we continue to serve and celebrate our community, the staff and Board remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of everyone who walks through our doors. …
“We are so appreciative of the tremendous outpouring of support we have received from local, national, and international communities of all faiths. The strong relationships we have with the other Jewish organizations in the Boulder area helped provide support throughout this incident. The collaborative work that we do together year after year is intentional, unique, and allows us to support each other and stand together as a community. We are thankful for the skill, professionalism, and care provided by all of the emergency services who helped ensure the safety of our community, including the ongoing investigation of this incident. We are all safer because of their work.
“On behalf of the entire staff and Board of the Boulder JCC, we are so grateful for your support. We are all stronger as we stand up together for compassion and community in spite of bigotry and hatred.”
The BJN would also like to congratulate Wendy Aronson, former Assistant Director of the Boulder JCC, on her appointment as Executive Director of Judaism Your Way, which was announced yesterday. We wish her all the best as she takes up her new position.
Boulder Chapter of Hadassah’s Shoshanim Brunch is a week away. There are still a few seats left! Click here to register online today.
Have a great weekend and enjoy this week’s stories in the BJN.
