Baruch Dayan Ha’emet: Harold Raizen, z”l

 Harold (Hal) Raizen (Chaim Yithak ben Shlomol v’Faigel), father of Jeff Raizen and father-in-law of Bonai Shalom’s school director Karen, passed away on January 31, 2018. Hal was such a good and gentle man, much loved and will be greatly missed.
The funeral is at 2pm Thursday February 1st at Rodef Shalom, 450 S Kearney St, Denver, CO 80224, followed by burial at Rose Hill cemetery

The Shivah will begin at the home of Jeff & Karen Raizen,1541 S. Flamingo Way, Denver 80222.

Visitors will be welcome on:

Friday from 1:00-4:00 pm

Sunday from 10:00-4:00 pm

Monday from 1:00-4:00 pm 

Tuesday from 1:00-4:00 pm

Minyan will be held on the following days/times:

Thursday at 7:00 pm

Friday at 7:00 am

Saturday at 7:00 pm

Sunday at 9:00 am

The location of the Shivah will move, for Sunday and Monday evenings, to the home of Michael Raizen & Gail DeVore,6144 E. Oregon Place, Denver 80224.

Minyan will be held on:

Sunday at 7:00 pm (with visitors welcome after 5:30)

Monday at 5:00 pm (with visitors welcome all afternoon)

 

Harold is survived by his loving wife Barbara, children Jeff, Michael and Andrea, 6 grand children and 6 great grand children.
Strength and comfort to Jeff and Karen, to all the mourners and their families.

About Rabbi Marc Soloway

Marc is a native of London, England where he was an actor and practitioner of complimentary medicine before training as a rabbi in London, Jerusalem and Los Angeles. He was ordained at the Ziegler School of Rabbinical Studies at the American Jewish University in 2004 and has been the the spiritual leader at Bonai Shalom in Boulder ever since. Marc was a close student of Rabbi Zalman Schechter Shalomi and received an additional smicha (rabbinic ordination) from him in 2014, just two months before he died. He has been the host and narrator of two documentary films shown on PBS; A Fire in the Forest: In Search of the Baal Shem Tov and Treasure under the Bridge: Pilgrimage to the Hasidic Masters of Ukraine. Marc is a graduate of the Institute of Jewish Spirituality, a fellow of Rabbis Without Borders, has traveled to Ghana in a rabbinic delegation with American Jewish World Service and co-chair of the Rabbinical Council and national board member of Hazon, which strives to create more sustainable Jewish communities. In 2015, Marc was among a group of 12 faith leaders honored at The White House as “Champions of Change” for work on the climate. Marc is a proud member of Beit Izim, Boulder’s Jewish goat milking co-op.
