Baruch Dayan HaEmet – Jacob Rubin Wiese z”l

Jacob Rubin Wiese (Yaakov Amal ben Chaim Yaakov v’Yaakovit Elka), son of Janice Rubin & Charles Wiese and husband of Andria, was killed in a military training accident on June 13, 2026. Jacob served in the US Army and was deeply loved and respected for his service and adored by family and friends. He was just 30 years old. Jacob was also known and loved as both a camper and staff member at Camp Ramah. There are no words to express the pain of this tragedy.

Jacob will be buried in Boulder on Thursday, June 18th with Jewish and military honors, as were his wishes.

Thursday, June 18
10:30 AM: Memorial Service at the Boulder JCC
Approx. 12:00 PM: Graveside Service at Mountain View Memorial Park (3016 Kalmia Avenue, Boulder, CO 80301)
Following the burial, immediate family and out-of-town guests are invited to Bonai Shalom.

This is so overwhelming for Janice and Charles and their families, and we ask please for people to respect their need for privacy.

This loss is unimaginable and incomprehensible, so we ask you please to be very sensitive to Janice and Charles’ privacy and respect the solemn space they need during this time.

Jacob is survived by his wife Andria, his parents Janice and Charles and a huge extended family that loved him from all over the world.

Hamakom y’nachem – may they all receive strength and comfort among all the mourners.

May the memory of Yaakov Amal ben Chaim Yaakov v’Yaakovit Elka always be a blessing.

About Rabbi Marc Soloway

Marc is a native of London, England where he was an actor and practitioner of complimentary medicine before training as a rabbi in London, Jerusalem and Los Angeles. He was ordained at the Ziegler School of Rabbinical Studies at the American Jewish University in 2004 and has been the the spiritual leader at Bonai Shalom in Boulder ever since. Marc was a close student of Rabbi Zalman Schechter Shalomi and received an additional smicha (rabbinic ordination) from him in 2014, just two months before he died. He has been the host and narrator of two documentary films shown on PBS; A Fire in the Forest: In Search of the Baal Shem Tov and Treasure under the Bridge: Pilgrimage to the Hasidic Masters of Ukraine. Marc is a graduate of the Institute of Jewish Spirituality, a fellow of Rabbis Without Borders, has traveled to Ghana in a rabbinic delegation with American Jewish World Service and co-chair of the Rabbinical Council and national board member of Hazon, which strives to create more sustainable Jewish communities. In 2015, Marc was among a group of 12 faith leaders honored at The White House as “Champions of Change” for work on the climate. Marc is a proud member of Beit Izim, Boulder’s Jewish goat milking co-op.
