Week in Review: July 3rd, 2015

Shabbat shalom! We just got the following in from Rabbi Marc Soloway, who is up at Camp Ramah this week:

Friends,
I am up at Camp Ramah in the Rockies right now and in this beautiful, remote wilderness, I am inevitably removed from the outside world.  However, I have been hearing about the burning down of black churches in the south and it just breaks my heart that this is happening, so soon after the brutal murder of 9 people in a church in Charleston.  How can we, as Jews, who have seen our own sacred spaces burned throughout history, bear this?  I can’t.  As 4th of July approaches, I feel like we as Jews need to stand up more and more against this pernicious culture of hate that is alive and well in this land.  I have just supported Rebuild the Churches fund and I invite you to do the same.

May we celebrate the 4th with determination to bring love and healing in the face of hate and destruction.
Rabbi Marc
