Week in Review: January 9th, 2015

bjn-logo8-200x200-blueShabbbat shalom, and Happy New Year! After a rather slow time after Chanukah, things are heating up again in the Boulder Jewish community.  Construction is underway at the Jewish Commons site on the new Boulder JCC building, Nevei Kodesh is hosting a shabbaton and concert this weekend, and more!  Also, renown Jewish musical star Sam Glaser is in Denver and ski country this week.  For the full list of his appearances, visit his website, www.samglaser.com.

On a serious note, we would like to acknowledge with great sadness as well as horror the terrible attack in Paris this week on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. While their humor and satire was sometimes “out there”, they did nothing to deserve summary execution by terrorists. May their memories be for a blessing.

Have a great weekend, stay warm, and enjoy this week’s stories in the BJN.

About Editor

I'm David Fellows, and I've served as a writer, photographer and/or an editor on my junior high and high school newspapers; the Daily Trojan at USC (where I earned my journalism degree); the student newspaper at the Anderson School at UCLA (where I earned my MBA); and I've written and edited countless business documents and presentations in the ensuing twenty years. I was also a professional photographer from 1978 to 1988 (although you never really stop...). I've been involved Jewishly since my bris and in Boulder since 1995. I'm married to my Executive Director Cheryl, and we have two children, Lauren and Ethan.
