Week in Review: August 27th, 2010

Shabbat Shalom!  We are inside the two-week window to Rosh Hashana.  BJN hopes your Elul is going well.  The discussion on Jewels of Elul this week was timely and topical.  Hope you check it out.

This week, BJN published a D’var Torah (teaching) from one of Boulder’s recent Bar Mitzvah students.  We encourage Bar and Bat Mitzvah students to submit their d’var torah and information about their Mitzvah/Tikkun Olam projects.  For more information, please email editor@boulderjewishnews.org.  We are fortunate to be taught by such thoughtful, articulate young people and are privileged to share their insights.

BJN also held a worksh0p this week for organizational contributors (staff or volunteers)  on how to utilize the BJN to the fullest as a community outreach and education resource.  There was a good turnout, and we expect to hold more workshops during the year.  For more information, please contact us.

About Editor

I'm David Fellows, and I've served as a writer, photographer and/or an editor on my junior high and high school newspapers; the Daily Trojan at USC (where I earned my journalism degree); the student newspaper at the Anderson School at UCLA (where I earned my MBA); and I've written and edited countless business documents and presentations in the ensuing twenty years. I was also a professional photographer from 1978 to 1988 (although you never really stop...). I've been involved Jewishly since my bris and in Boulder since 1995. I'm married to my Executive Director Cheryl, and we have two children, Lauren and Ethan.
