Tickets Now on Sale for Third Annual Latkes and Lights Hanukkah Celebration in Denver on December 15

DENVER, Colo. October 15, 2024 –TheStaenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC Denver) is hosting the third annual Latkes and Lights Hanukkah event on Sunday, December 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event includes two latke competitions, a craft fair featuring local vendors, live music, Hanukkah games, and more. Individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

“Last year’s Latkes and Lights was a sell-out event with a lengthy wait list, so this year, we have increased capacity to welcome even more community members in for this fun holiday celebration,” said Blair Becker, engagement program manager at the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center. “With Hanukkah being relatively late this year compared to recent years, from December 25 to January 2, this event is a great way to get into the Hanukkah spirit a little early.”

At the event, attendees can taste latkes from Ash’Kara, Latke Love, Zaidy’s, Rosenberg’s, and more competing for the Golden Latke Award, awarded to the restaurant who makes the best latke in the Denver area as determined by a panel of guest judges. The guest judges, including Bree Davies from City Cast Denver, Koree Margaret, a Denver food vlogger, and Casey Guber, CEO of Rose Medical Center, will determine who has the best latke in the city. There will also be a latke competition for community members to determine the best latke maker among home cooks. The event also features a Makers Mart craft fair featuring local vendors selling goods, live music, Hanukkah games, fresh pita and olive oil tasting from Challahrado Hearth, and more. Ryan Warner, from Colorado Public Radio, will be the emcee for the event.

“Latke Love is excited to be part of this great community event,” said Tina Shander, owner of Latke Love. “We were honored to be named ‘People’s Choice’ in 2023, and we look forward to everyone’s unique latke creations.”

Tickets are available on a sliding scale price model from $24 to $32 for an individual. A family four-pack costs $65 to $89 on the sliding scale. The purchase of one individual ticket or a family four pack includes a complimentary Latkes and Lights tote bag. A limited number of tickets are available. The event will take place at the JCC Denver located at 350 S. Dahlia St., Denver, CO 80246.
