The Boulder Jewish Film Festival Announces the Audience Award Winner

To all who attended the 12th annual Boulder Jewish Film Festival, I am very gratified by your enthusiastic response to the films and your thoughtful participation in the post-screening conversations.

I appreciate all your comments and kind words during the festival and I hope our talkbacks added to your appreciation and deepened your understanding of the films we presented. Our overall talkback rating was 8.9 out of 10, with guest speakers Ryan Lavarnway (“Israel Swings for the Gold“) and Shlomo Weprin (“Song of Ascent“) scoring the highest.

Our community-selected Centerpiece won the Audience Award

In eight days, we showed 14 films and hosted 23 screenings, filling almost 2,000 seats. We sold out all but three screenings and are working to make sure we have more availability next year. Our tentative dates for next year are November 9-16.

Call Me Dancer” was one of two documentaries tied for second place

We are happy to announce that our Audience Favorite Award goes to Running on Sand,” which scored 9.5 out of 10. This Israeli dramedy was selected by our newly formed Community Centerpiece Committee.

In second place at 9.4 there was a three-way tie for Here Lived,” “The Blond Boy from the Casbah,” and Call Me Dancer.

Kidnapped” is the only festival film available online

The next most highly rated film at 9.3, Kidnapped: The Abduction of Edgardo Mortara is now available for purchase on Amazon Prime and available at Kanopy.

A Real Pain,” which scored 9.2 along with Song of Ascent,” is now playing in the theaters.

A Real Pain” is now in theaters

Our always popular Shorts Program scored a 9 and sold out all three screenings.

None of the other festival films are available on any other platforms at this point. However, many Jewish titles from past years and from other festivals are available on Chai Flicks, which is currently offering a 40% discount.

If you would like to volunteer for the festival in 2025, please email jodi@boulderjcc.org and we will be in touch with you.

I hope to see you at the JCC during the year at one of our many cultural arts offerings, including an occasional film at the Dairy Arts Center.
