The Program in Jewish Studies, in collaboration with the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, is honored to host Dr. Sabine Hildebrandt, co-chair of the Lancet Commission on medicine, Nazism and the Holocaust, for a discussion on the history of anatomy in Nazi Germany and its contemporary implications.
Dr. Hildebrandt’s presentation will delve into her extensive research on the ethical dimensions of anatomy, particularly focusing on the history of anatomy during the Nazi era. The discussion will explore the enduring legacies of this dark chapter in medical history and its impact on anatomy education today. Key topics include the distribution of power over knowledge of the human body and the importance of confronting the darker aspects of history to inform better approaches to anatomy and science.
