Sh’ma Israel!

Adonai Elohanu, Adonai Echad.

Hear O’Israel!

The Lord’s our God,

The Lord is One!

The Sh’ma is our declaration

of faith to a merciful God,

She’s one and Her name is One.

We cover our sight, to focus

on Her, our only true muse!

Love your God with all your heart,

with all your soul,  with all your might, for

She is the mother of sentient thought,

          the light of enlightenment,

  the candle for the darker side of us.

Teach us your laws,

your sons and daughters,

the world revolves around a new day.

Give the gift of hope at sunrise

to a world half cloaked in darkness.

     She’s atoned us throughout all time,

      please forgive us again and again!

Sing to God!  Cantillations so sweet

 both at home and on our way,

words so holy that the angels begin to sing!

Bind Her threads

as a sign of the holy upon our hand.

Let Her prayers be written

above and between our eyes

where our foreheads dance upon Her verse.

Inscribe Your prayers upon our doorposts,

mezuzahs slant filled with this Sh’ma,

so that She can bless our place of stay!

God will fill the land with birth

in the seasons when rain must be.

       From Her belly the land bears fruit,

 the harvest of grain, wine and oil, 

         life will prevail upon the Earth!

If we turn our face away from God, 

fertile fields will fall fallow,

for the creation and destruction of the Earth

is in the holy union of God and mankind.

She’ll stillbirth all life,

for Her soul of souls lives because of us.

Impress Her words upon your heart,

teach your children that God loves all!

Repeat these prayers upon rising

in the early mornings rays of light

and as the evenings dim into night,

then the world will continue on and on.

She swore to our ancestors

that the heavens will endure,

a forgiving God who longs for love,

a loving queen who’s groom is thee.
