Nonprofits and Skilled Volunteers Will Connect Over Online Platform to Address Urgent Needs
New York, NY — Today, Repair the World announced a new initiative, Skills for Impact, in partnership with several leading Jewish organizations to further mobilize the Jewish community to take action to support neighbors and communities during this unprecedented time. The online platform, run by Catchafire — the largest, online tool that connects social good organizations with talented professionals looking to donate their skills — will provide Repair’s non-profit partners and other nonprofits and social service agencies supported by the Jewish community with expert support in areas like marketing and communications, web development, operations, strategy and more.
“This new partnership will greatly increase capacity for our service partners, and create a central, go-to resource for Repair to drive the Jewish community to take action virtually at a time when many people have more time and a deep desire to contribute their skills and resources safely, says Cindy Greenberg, President and CEO of Repair the World. “Challenging financial situations and reduced staff capacity mean that our service partners are more reliant on volunteers than ever before. So at this moment, the Jewish community can step up boldly, safely, and in alignment with our values to support our neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
About the Platform
Through the use of Catchafire’s technology, the custom platform powered by Repair is a broad initiative in partnership with key Jewish organizations to drive this much-needed volunteer capacity. Unlike other skilled volunteering platforms, Skills for Impact will host ongoing educational resources to deepen volunteers’ engagement and understanding of their service through contextual education and connecting to Jewish values.
