Join Menorah Cuba Travelers At BJCC for Reunion

cuba group photoMiriam Levinson, who proved a superb tour guide for Menorah’s Jewish Mission to Cuba in January, reports that two women from New York went on her most recent trip. She asked how they heard about her. From the Boulder trip, they told her. They had googled “Jewish missions to Cuba,” and quickly found my article describing the incredible experience published in the Boulder Jewish News upon our return, as well as a far more detailed account written by Menorah’s president elect, Tom Trager. No offense,” Miriam said, “but Boulder isn’t exactly a big community so I was surprised that these two women from the largest Jewish city in America came to Cuba with your articles printed out.”

We may be small in numbers, I explained, but we are large in visibility thanks to the BJN.

For those who are interested in learning more about the Cuba experience, or if you would like to go on Menorah’s next  trip to Cuba, there is another opportunity to hear first-hand about our recent sojourn to this intriguing island with a rich Jewish history.

On Sunday, May 18, at 5 pm, the Boulder JCC is hosting a reunion for the participants, which is open to the entire community. Photos will be shown, memories will be shared, music will be played, and, of course, some Cuban refreshments will be served. The event is free, but reservations are appreciated so we can judge the amount of food we need to order from Cuba, Cuba. To reserve a spot, email me at

jewish-weddingWBased on the enthusiastic response from the 24 people who spent a fascinating week in Havana, with one overnight in the interior, Menorah hopes to offer a second trip next year. The dates will be based on interest, and survey will be sent to our contact list. If interested, please feel free to call me at 303-998-1021, or email me at

Morocco_Tourist-Attractions_CN2RWhile the timing of our next Cuba adventure is tentative, based on interest, Menorah is considering offering a Jewish-focused trip to Morocco in 2016 led by Miriam Levinson. The trip will likely be mid-April, before Passover, or early May, after Passover. Again, please contact me if you are interested. The trip will be available on a first-come basis.
