Shabbat Shalom! It was a very bittersweet week here for the Boulder community as word came out that on Sunday, just before the start of the Sukkot holiday, our beloved educator Froma Fallik, z”l, passed away. Because of the chag, the funeral was delayed until Wednesday, and shiva delayed until next week. Rabbi Marc Soloway, of Froma’s Congregation Bonai Shalom, delivered a powerful eulogy, and Morah Yehudis Fishman wrote a post explaining the delay in shiva. To assist the Fallik family, struggling with so much at this time, friends of the family have opened a fund at a local credit union, which is now available for donations.
As difficult as it may seem, Jews are called to celebrate during the next days as we eat, sleep, and entertain in our sukkahs through Sunday, then celebrate the end and beginning of the Torah cycle on Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah on Monday night through Tuesday. Most synagogues in Boulder will be celebrating Simchat Torah Monday night; check the BJN calendar and the synagogue sites for details. Because of the holidays, Boulder Jewish News will post next on Tuesday night.
Have a good weekend.
