Week in Review: April 29th, 2011

Shabbat Shalom!  We made it through the Passover holiday, and now the community is counting down the Omer towards Shavuos while we remember lost generations with Yom HaShoah. Check out the Omer counter on the sidebar of the BoulderJewishNews.org home page if you need a prompt for which day it is.

Of course, there was also some shopping excitement this week as the Nordstrom Rack opened at 29th St. in Boulder, and IKEA announced it would open its Colorado store in July, several months early. Now if we only had a Trader Joe’s. . .

On the technical side, many thanks to Josh Fraser and local startup Torbit.com. This clever new company helps websites load faster – getting the information you want to you faster.  If you are as impatient about things like that as we are, we hope you notice that Boulder Jewish News now loads about 1/3 faster than before. If you have websites that could use a little load-time improvement, check them out!

That quick loading helps with the handy reference info on the right side of the home page – everything from Today in Jewish Boulder to links and articles and the latest on Twitter. If you scroll down a bit, we’ve replaced the Passover videos with an audio-visual treat (we can almost smell Canter’s Deli) – thank you Howard Leibowitz for sharing it!

BJN would also like to welcome a new advertiser this week; Maxine Gower, LCSW, NCPsyA, Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.  Thanks, Maxine, for your support.

Have a great weekend!

About Editor

I'm David Fellows, and I've served as a writer, photographer and/or an editor on my junior high and high school newspapers; the Daily Trojan at USC (where I earned my journalism degree); the student newspaper at the Anderson School at UCLA (where I earned my MBA); and I've written and edited countless business documents and presentations in the ensuing twenty years. I was also a professional photographer from 1978 to 1988 (although you never really stop...). I've been involved Jewishly since my bris and in Boulder since 1995. I'm married to my Executive Director Cheryl, and we have two children, Lauren and Ethan.
