Week in Review: August 20th, 2010

Shabbat Shalom!   Summer vacation is over, the kids are back in school, CU students are back in town and crowding all the stores, and things are starting to get busy again in the Boulder Jewish Community.  With three weeks left to the High Holidays, you can tell all the synagogues are moving into high gear to get ready.  As we all should during this month of Elul…

With CU ramping up, the dining service/food court area of CU’s new Center for Community is open — including its Kosher section!  See our article for information, pictures of the soft opening and video interviews.

Also, many of our Jewish organizations are gearing up for a busy fall and winter, so be sure to check the BJN for stories about the amazing programs coming up from Boulder organizations — Menorah and a new version of MoVeRs, this time focusing on Jewish Language and Literature; JTeen looking to pull together a Jewish Teen Council from our pool of locally-grown teen leaders to foster engagement; and ADL is expanding their No Place for Hate campaign to Boulder High, just to name a few.

Be sure you keep an eye on the BJN for the latest news and updates.

I'm David Fellows, and I've served as a writer, photographer and/or an editor on my junior high and high school newspapers; the Daily Trojan at USC (where I earned my journalism degree); the student newspaper at the Anderson School at UCLA (where I earned my MBA); and I've written and edited countless business documents and presentations in the ensuing twenty years. I was also a professional photographer from 1978 to 1988 (although you never really stop...). I've been involved Jewishly since my bris and in Boulder since 1995. I'm married to my Executive Director Cheryl, and we have two children, Lauren and Ethan.
