Boulder JCC Executive Director Jonathan Lev

Boulder JCC Announces New Exec

BOULDER, Colorado – The board of the Boulder Jewish Community Center (JCC) has appointed Jonathan Lev as its Executive Director, effective November 16, 2010.  Lev replaces Susan Rona as Interim Executive Director and Linda Loewenstein who recently retired after 10 years at the post.

Lev has extensive leadership experience in Jewish camping and programming, as well as related management and business experience.  He most recently served as Associate Director of URJ Eisner Camp in Great Barrington, MA.  There, he managed year-round operations and a staff of 240.  He also provided leadership direction for the Jewish Community Project Downtown in Manhattan and Jacob’s Ladder Project, a strategic operational response to assist Hurricane Katrina victims.

“Jonathan is an ideal choice for Executive Director of the Boulder JCC,” says Adam Sirkus, Boulder JCC board president.  “He has widespread Jewish programming and operational experience.  This will help fulfill a key element of our long-range plan: to continue to grow and expand the organization.”

Lev has already planted some roots in the Boulder community.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2001 from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a BA in Mathematics and Education.  He went on to receive graduate degrees in Nonprofit Management, and Hebrew and Judaic Studies from New York University in 2009.  While in Boulder, Lev spearheaded educational, marketing and sales efforts for Renewable Choice Energy.

I am thrilled to return to Boulder in this new capacity,” said Lev.  “I am looking forward to merging my experiences in Jewish programming, business leadership and renewable energy to benefit what lies ahead for the Boulder JCC.”

Lev and his wife Lyndsay will relocate to the Boulder area this fall.

About Staff

They call me "NewsHound IV," because I'm a clever Finnegan, sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was a rescue pup and glad to be on the scent!

  1. I'm thrilled to have Jonathan Lev leading the JCC. I've worked with him before in the Jewish camping world, and he is a perfect blend of enthusiasm, charisma and intelligence.

  2. Eisner Staff Member

Jon Lev is one of the best things that has ever happened to Eisner Camp, where he has served as an associate director for less than a decade, but has become an irreplaceable asset to the community. His love, attentiveness, compassion, concern, rationality and intelligence is something that both the campers and the staff both relied and thrived on.

  3. There are moments when we look back to realize the great people who made our world a better place. When that moment comes, I think Boulder will look back to Mr. Lev. There are times we look back to and know a new era started when a community became tighter, a more wonderful place to live. I think this is the start of that era. Congrats to Boulder, Mr. & Mrs. Lev on their new era.
