A Courageous Message from Barbara Gould’s Family

Barbara Gould and her family are courageously sharing that Barbara needs a liver transplant. They are seeking out the love of others who would spread the word and consider becoming a living donor. All the information is in this Caring Bridge link.

Let’s join together in sharing a refuah shleymah — a complete healing, speedily and soon! Now, let’s help find a donor! Read her daughter’s message here at the Caring Bridge link.

Here is a piece of her daughter’s message to us. Thank you, Rebecca Taggart, for sharing this:

My mother has been diagnosed with progressive liver disease. In March 2020, she caught Covid. This was well before vaccines and even before much of the science around treating Covid emerged. My mom’s fight with Covid continued through 92 grueling days in various hospitals between Boulder and Denver. It included 65 days on life support including hooked up to an ECMO machine. After nearly a year of recovering physically and emotionally, we thought my mom was going to be able to finally enjoy the incredible gift of life that she was given. Unfortunately, that gift was quickly taken away as the doctors found that Covid had caused severe damage to her liver. Over the last 2 years, my mom’s liver function has progressively worsened along with her quality of life.

Barbara and her husband, Allen Taggart, are an important part of our community, along with their adult children, Rebecca and Sam. I hope you can join me and many others by exploring if you can be a match. Our friends know what they are asking… it is a big deal. And, the rabbis of old taught that “Whoever saves a single life is considered by Scripture to have saved the whole world.” (Talmud, Sanhedrin 37a)

We have an awesome opportunity to do just that.

Thank you for considering this note. I wish you all a 2023 filled with love, laughter, good health, and shalom/peace.
