Letter: Thanks from the JCRC

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) applauds Governor Polis, Representatives Garnett and Neville, and Senators Garcia and Sonnenberg for honoring Major General Maurice Rose with a sculpture on the grounds of the Colorado State Capitol. We also thank the community members who pushed for this honor.

General Rose’s leadership, courage, and humility has inspired our community for the last 75 years. In his memory, his family established Rose Community Hospital, unique at the time in Denver for not discriminating against potential employees or patients based on their race or creed.

The timing of this honor is not lost on us: General Rose died fighting the antisemitic Nazi regime that committed the most deadly genocide in history against European Jewry. May this statue remind all Coloradans to recommit to the fight against the scourge of rising antisemitism and all forms of hate.
