Nevei Kodesh Postpones Ancestral Healing Workshop with Elsa Asher

Elsa Asher

Elsa Asher is coming to Boulder as a special guest teacher in November (postponed from September). They are a practitioner of somatics with a specialty in healing developmental and intergenerational trauma, doula, Kohene (Hebrew ritualist/ priestx), professor and facilitator.

They are a queer, non-binary trans person and describe their practice as queer and trans normative.  In their work, they highlight the importance of acknowledging systems of oppression and the intersections of power and privilege. Just because a group is oppressed in one way does not mean that they do not have privilege in another. They come from both Jewish and Native lineages and focus on ancestral trauma.

In their workshops, Asher’s main focus is on the body and they use exercises that ground participants. This grounding helps people to recognize their trauma and to connect and heal their ancestors. Being stuck in trauma keeps us from moving forward into healing. Survival strategies to cope with trauma do not always work in the long term or in present day situations. Asher says that it is necessary to adapt and to let go of old stories that no longer serve. Part of this process is connecting to our ancestors so that we can feel blessed and supported by them.

September 21st  In November, Elsa Asher will be at Nevei Kodesh teaching an Ancestral Healing Workshop. This daylong workshop encourages relating with blood and family lineage ancestors, cultivates connection with guides, and creates boundaries and support for troubled dead. With the help of participants, Elsa Asher will create a heart-centered ritual space through learning, experiential practice and group dialogue. Even though the focus is on Jewish lineages and ancestor reverence ritual, all are welcome to attend.

The new date will be published when it is available.
