Rabbi Marc’s A Dash of Drash – Torah and the Blues is Episode 87 – B’Shalach

Joey Weisenberg is one of the most inspiring voices in the contemporary Jewish music world; he is the director of the Rising Song Institute, which has grown out of his work with Hadar. Joey is also the author of The Torah of Music, as well as many melodies and songs. In the week of Shabbat Shirah, the Shabbat of Song, I had the honor to talk and sing with Joey at the Ohalah Conference in Colorado. Please join us for this amazing conversation about the blues, Jewish music, singing as spiritual practice and so much more. As the Israelites cross over the sea on their journey to freedom, they sing the Song of the Sea (Exodus 15), and this act of singing emerges, potentially spontaneously, as a joyful expression of liberation. Music is at the heart of Jewish life and Joey helps keep that heart pumping!
