Bright city by the mountain
stand by those soon forgotten!
Once it was us and them,
just a twist of faith
in the fabric of our loom.
Now I’m unsure,
Old people who loved to pray
a gunman did open up and slay.
Caravans of hopeless people
moving towards an uncertain home.
Children still held, how many told?
When will they find their Mom and Pop?
Once it was you and me,
Or it seemed to be.
Now the Breaking News,
filled with bombs and gunmen,
and the tally told, rings forth
from our IPhones.
If we don’t stand together
against this violent onslaught,
we shall fall apart
one by one,
In the evening’s news report.
