Professor Zach Levey visits Bonai Shalom on January 30 to speak on “The Rise of the Arab-Jewish Conflict in Palestine: 1921-1939.” Professor Levey will focus his talk on four principal aspects of these critical two decades:

  • aliyah and the building of the Yishuv
  • the land question in Palestine,
  • Arabs and Jews under the Mandate,
  • Britain’s abandonment of its commitment to Zionism by the end of the 1930s.

Following the presentation, Cathy Olswing, Regional Vice President for Hadassah’s Desert Mountain Region will briefly discuss Hadassah’s role in Palestine during the same period.

Zach Levey is the Schusterman Visiting Israeli Professor in the Jewish Studies Program, Political Science and International Affairs at the University of Colorado in Boulder. His principal areas of research and teaching are the Cold War, US-Israeli relations, the foreign policy of Israel, and the Arab-Israeli Conflict.
