Dayenu to Pain

Dear Friend,

We are all shaken and devastated by the tragic and senseless murder spree which took place in our hometown.

May G-d grant comfort and healing to the families of the slain, and to the entire Boulder community.

Today is an auspicious day for healing. It is the birthday of the great spiritual luminary of our generation, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.

We are also in the month of Nissan, which features the holiday of Passover, which our Sages teach is infused with the energy of miracles.

I know it’s not easy in a moment like this, but I hope we can connect with the potential of this day, month, and the upcoming Holiday of Passover, to rise above the evil and gloom, and answer it with renewed vigor and determination to add much light and love to our world.

On a personal note, today is my (Chany) birthday. In Jewish tradition, a person on his/her birthday is imbued with the power to bless, and so I bless you with health, peace of mind, inner joy, and much nachas (satisfaction and delight) from your family!

And may we merit the Redemption of Moshiach, which will usher in an era when all the news we hear will be uplifting, a time when pain and suffering will cease.

With friendship,

Rabbi Pesach & Chany Scheiner
