Community Sexual Harassment Panel Tuesday at Boulder JCC

“Is Your Flirting Harassing Me?” will be hosted at the Boulder JCC in partnership with Women of the J, the Boulder Chapter of Hadassah, and Congregation Har HaShem

The #metoo movement and the demands for change initiated by women in the entertainment industry, has brought this issue to the forefront and provided a platform for us to present this panel discussion on sexual harassment. Panelists, representing a range of experience working with people affected by sexual harassment, will provide context and answer questions, beginning a dialogue within our families and the larger community.

Dafna Michaelson Jenet

Community members ages 14 and above are welcome to join us on Tuesday, October 9 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. This panel discussion will feature the following panelists:

  • Tim Johnson: A Boulder County Deputy DA with 20 years of experience prosecuting sex crimes against adults and children, domestic violence, stalking, and other violent crimes.
  • Julia Yager: Director of Human Resources of Boulder County since 2009, with more than 20 years experience in multiple disciplines and conflicts, within Human Resources.
  • Cathy Cohn, PhD, LCSW: A therapist with vast experience in treating trauma, anxiety, depressions, and other related disorders.
  • Moderated by Dafna Michaelson Jenet: Colorado House Representative (D), author, advocate for Veteran Affairs, Mental Health, Housing and Education, to name just a few.

The demand and need for change has given voice to those who have been sexually harassed, humiliated, subsequently fired from jobs when speaking out, and those who were locked in their shame, silence, self-blame, and unspeakable trauma. In an effort to establish new ways and rules of conduct and engagement, we need to understand how to unshackle ourselves from the old norms and reclaim our own power and voices.
