Shabbat shalom! Congregation Bonai Shalom is presenting “Social Justice – Jews in the Civil Rights Movement” with Karen Raizen this Sunday, November 2nd, at 4:00 pm. It has been estimated that almost half of the volunteers/activists who participated in the American Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s were Jewish. These interactive sessions investigate the motivations and experiences of some of these activists using primary sources and personal narrative. Participants are encouraged to share their own personal narratives during the events of that time and the group will also explore questions about identity, society, and social justice using Jewish texts.
Don’t forget TO VOTE! If you haven’t already mailed your ballot, it is time to either do the drop off thing, or plan to show up and do it the old fashion way, in person. However you do it, make sure you do it!
Have a great weekend, and enjoy this week’s stories in the BJN.
