For the 11th year, Rose Youth Foundation, an initiative of Rose Community Foundation, will grant a total of $60,000 to organizations serving Greater Denver and Boulder. This year, Rose Youth Foundation has established four funding priorities. The group is seeking proposals and will award $48,000 for two of these priorities in support of programs that:
- Inspire Jewish teenagers to engage in and continue to be involved in Jewish life
- Support refugees in adapting to life in Greater Denver and Boulder and becoming self-sufficient
The deadline to submit a grant proposal addressing one of these priorities is Monday, February 27, 2012 at noon.
The group will also identify and award $12,000 to organizations that support homeless individuals and individuals with special needs in becoming self-sufficient, demonstrating the Jewish teaching that the highest level of tzedakah (justice) is to aid someone in becoming self-sufficient. Rose Youth Foundation will not accept proposals but will make grants directly to specific organizations addressing these priorities.
In its Request for Proposals to potential grantees, Rose Youth Foundation states,
We, the 23 members of Rose Youth Foundation, encompass the entire spectrum of Jewish faith and we believe that we have a responsibility to practice tikkun olam, the Jewish ideal of repairing the world, by working to improve our community.”
Rose Youth Foundation has met twice a month since November 2011 to learn about philanthropy, Jewish traditions and values related to giving, and to determine funding priorities.
