Brundibar Bonanza!

As part of Colorado Music Festival’s Celebration of Jewish Composers, you are cordially invited to a Brundibar Bonanza!

Brundibar, the children’s opera by Czech composer Hans Krasa, was performed more htan 50 times in the Terezin concentration camp, as part of a Nazi propaganda effort. Join Colorado Music Festival at Chautauqua Auditorium on June 28 and 29 as we present this timeless sotry that unites kids and their animal friends against the town bully. Original cast member – and Holocaust survivor – Ela Weissberger will travel to Boulder to be part of this special experience. Brundibar is produced in collaboration with the University of Colorado Opera Program.

FREE Sneak Preview! Thursday June 7th at 7pm, at the Performance Space at The Dairy Center for the Arts:

Brundibar (the Bumblebee) – What does it mean to you and me?”  A Multi-Media Examination of Brundibar

Boulder Renewal Rabbi Tirzah Firestone will guide us through a conversation about this unique production along with University of Colorado Opera Program Director Leigh Holman. Hear musical selections, learn about the historical context, and see visuals of past productions. To enhance the experience, Boulder Rabbis Joshua Rose (Reform), Marc Soloway (Conservative) and Gavriel Goldfeder (Orthodox) will together examine the libretto and share their insights. Space is limited; early arrival is encouraged.

Colorado Music Festival extends appreciation to the event co-sponsor, The Dairy Center for the Arts. Many thanks also to our community partners: Haver and University of Colorado Boulder Opera Program.
