The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) mourns the passing of Herta Hess Kahn z”l, an Honorary Life Member of ADL’s National Commission and our dear friend.
One of the first female stock brokers in America, Herta began her self-described “love affair” with ADL nearly 65 years ago. She was a member of the Chicago Regional Board, and when she moved west she became a member of our ADL Boulder Steering Committee, where at 92 years of age she never missed a meeting.
Herta loved explaining ADL’s mission and its continued relevance, and she was a true champion of interfaith dialogue. When she received ADL’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 here in Boulder, Herta said, “Love is the answer. Love is the antidote.”
May her memory be for a blessing.
We will miss Herta always, and we re-dedicate ADL’s important work here in her memory.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, May 10, at 1:00 pm at The Academy.
Here is a link to the obituary in Sunday’s Daily Camera.
It was truly a gift to have known Herta. She was an extraordinary woman who defined "living in interesting times." From modeling to business to justice, Herta had a wealth of knowledge, passion and experience. A supportive friend and inspiring woman – may we all be as active, fit, engaged and passionate as she.
May her memory be for a blessing. What an inspiration!
