Boulder’s Jewish community is invited to an evening where the flavors of the diaspora meet the front lines of modern activism. On Tuesday, April 28, we will gather for A Conversation with Matthew Nouriel and Miri Kornfeld, a unique program that explores the complex intersections of heritage, storytelling, and social justice.
The evening begins with a sensory journey through a “Taste of Persia,” offering attendees a chance to connect over traditional flavors that represent centuries of Iranian-Jewish history.
We are honored to host Matthew Nouriel, the Director of Community Engagement at JIMENA (Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa). A Los Angeles-based content creator and activist, Matthew has gained international recognition for their work at the crossroads of multiple movements. As a leading voice of Iranian-Jewish heritage, Matthew bridges the gap between LGBTQ+ rights, the Women Life Freedom movement, and the global fight against antisemitism. Their presence offers a vital look at how diverse identities can strengthen, rather than dilute, our communal advocacy.
Joining the conversation is our very own Miri Kornfeld, Director of StandWithUs Colorado. Miri brings a wealth of local leadership and a sophisticated global perspective on Jewish education. Her work focuses on empowering the next generation to stand proud in their Zionism and Jewish identity, providing a grounded, strategic balance to the evening’s discourse.
In a time when the Jewish community is navigating profound challenges, this event serves as a reminder of our resilience and the power of intersectional allyship. Join us to discover how we can build stronger bridges—within our own community and beyond—while celebrating the rich cultural tapestry that defines us.
Advance registration is always recommended for programs at the Boulder JCC to ensure we have the right number of chairs and food. If you have any questions or need assistance getting registered, please contact Julia.Price@boulderjcc.org.
