Letter: A Lie Delivered With a Smile…

Dear editor:

During his June 18 press conference, VP Vance stated, regarding Iran, that “their nuclear program has been totally destroyed.”  However, the Pickaxe Mountain facility in Iran is buried under 240 to 300 feet of solid granite and so was never bombed. If U.S. bombs can’t destroy Pickaxe, even with Massive Ordnance Penetrators, then Iran can continue to enrich uranium for nuclear bombs behind a granite shield.

Is it likely that a “deal” will result in fully verified complete dismantlement? Recall that VP Vance said ”Isn’t it worth trying?” regarding motivating change in the behavior of Iran’s regime. Long odds are available for anyone wishing to bet on the chance of a behavioral turnaround in a regime that currently uses regular political hangings as retribution for dissent, to control its population. This after mowing down between 30,000 to 50,000 unarmed youth who protested against the regime’s utter indifference to their concerns. The help promised to Iranian youth is not on the way, Iranian octopus-arm aggressive proxies will be covertly funded, and Iran’s status in the Middle East will be strengthened. Some wars are won by money, words and patience, all of which Iran deploys with unmatched skill.
