The 18th season of the Neustadt Jewish Arts, Authors, Movies and Music Festival (Neustadt JAAMM Festival) at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center in Denver kicks off on September 2 and runs through mid-October. The festival includes the annual Neustadt JAAMM Bookstore, which begins on September 2, and several events by or about Jewish arts, authors, movies and/or music bringing talent to Denver that may not otherwise come to the city. Tickets are now on sale for all events.
“The Neustadt JAAMM Festival is a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity through a Jewish lens that brings our community together through stories, song, laughter, and art,” said Tim Campbell, program director at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center. “This season’s festival lineup honors tradition, tells stories, sparks dialogue, incites wonder and laughter, and offers something meaningful for people of all ages, faiths, interests and backgrounds.”
The 2025 Neustadt JAAMM Festival includes the following events:
September 2-27 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. – Bookstore
o This temporary bookstore will be held in the JCC Denver’s lobby. Books of many genres from Jewish authors or with Jewish themes will be available.
September 2-27– Art Gallery Featuring Wendy Shattil
o Artist and Gallery Reception on Sept. 7 from 6 – 8 PM
o Well-known local wildlife and conservation photographer, Wendy Shattil, will be featuring her photography in the Mizel Reception Room. Come celebrate this long-time friend to the JCC Denver, and check out her world-renowned art.

September 11 at 7 p.m. – The Maccabeats
o The Maccabeats, an American Orthodox Jewish all-male a cappella group that specializes in covers and parodies of contemporary hits using Jewish-themed lyrics. The night will begin with a surprise performance by a local a capella group.
September 18 at 7 p.m. – The Spice Detective: Journey to the World of Middle Eastern Spices
o The Spice Detective: An evening experience that will teach ticket holders how to use spices, what spices to use, a Q&A, and cookbook signing with a meet and greet. Light food will be served.


September 21 from 7-9 p.m.– Jillith Fair: A celebration of the late Denver musician Jill Sobule
o Local artists will come together to celebrate the late singer who died unexpectedly earlier this year and who was born and raised in Denver and attended the JCC Denver. The event will include local, well-known artists like Hal Aqua and Lannie Garret. The event will highlight her career from her hit songs, like I Kissed a Girl, to her most recent stage hit F*ck7thGrade. The evening will include video clips from Jill’s life and live performances.
- September 26 and 27 at 8 p.m. – Gary Gulman: “Grandiloquent”
- The successful off-Broadway run of Gary Gulman’s one-man show about insecurity, empathy, self-acceptance and how a thoughtful boy learned to use humor, reading and writing to cope with the consequences of his parents’ blunders. Tickets are selling fast!
- Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from September 25 to October 12 (times vary) – Veritas Productions and the Mizel Arts and Culture Center present Jerry’s Girls.
- Celebrating Jerry Herman and his large contribution to the theatrical world

Participants are asked to be honest in evaluating their own circumstances and self-selecting the pricing tier that is right for them.
