JEWISHcolorado to Host 2025 High Holiday Security Briefing with SCN and ADL

(DENVER) – In preparation for the 2025 Jewish High Holidays, JEWISHcolorado, in collaboration with Secure Community Network (SCN) – Colorado and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Mountain States, will host a joint safety and security briefing for the community. The training will take place on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center in Denver.

An investigative researcher from ADL’s Center on Extremism will share information about the threat landscape along with specific insights into extremist movements and events facing the Colorado Jewish community in the lead-up to this High Holiday season.

SCN Regional Security Advisors Kevin Farrington and Brian Maloney will train participants in best practices for planning secure and welcoming High Holiday events. There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is required. The event is open to community members, as well as lay and professional leaders.

“We want every member of our community to feel secure and confident during the High Holidays and throughout the year,” said JEWISHcolorado President & CEO Renée Rockford. “By understanding the risks and preparing appropriately, we can help ensure our community remains resilient, safe, and connected.”

“The Jewish community is facing an unprecedently high threat level, with ten documented terrorist plots or attacks targeting Jews or Jewish institutions in the U.S. in just the past 12 months,” said ADL Mountain States Regional Director Susan Rona. “It is critical for local Jewish institutions, law enforcement and security professionals to collaborate to respond effectively to this threat environment.”

JEWISHcolorado has led this Safety and Security initiative since 2018, raising funds from the community and providing services including training, site assessments, and security consultations at no cost. The Initiative leverages collective resources to develop best practices for emergency communication, security awareness and training, and disaster response. In 2025 alone, JEWISHcolorado’s regional advisors have provided 120 safety and security trainings to more than 3,500 individuals throughout Colorado.

The Initiative is supported by the Rose Community Foundation and the Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation of Colorado and is conducted in cooperation with ADL Mountain States.  Learn more: https://www.jewishcolorado.org/resource/regional-safety-security-initiative/
