Bonai Shalom First Friday – June 6th

Bonai Shalom First Friday – June 6th

Join Congregation Bonai Shalom for an uplifting session that explores how unexpected joy can break through even our most uncertain and difficult moments. With humor, heart, and deep spiritual insight, Pedro Senhorinha Silva invites us to consider what it means to hold grief in one hand and joy in the other—and how cultivating that duality is part of being fully human. Drawing from Abrahamic wisdom, narrative dynamics, and lived experience, we’ll explore why it’s often “darkest before the dawn,” and how to begin anticipating joy as naturally as the morning sun. Through laughter, story, and sacred reflection, this gathering reminds us: joy doesn’t just arrive—it erupts, and often when we least expect it.

Pedro Silva is an engaged community member, advocate, and bridge-builder based in Boulder, Colorado. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he later worked in corporate recruitment before earning a theology degree and serving as a pastor for over a decade. His civic engagement spans affordable housing, voting rights, and racial justice.

The core of Pedro’s work is to help people build the relational and imaginative capacity to create constructive and transformation oriented dialogue. He currently serves as the Director of Engagement with YOUnify, founded The Liberation Comedy Project, using humor to both challenge and unite people, and started Higher Up Consulting to help individuals and communities build a more collaborative society.  Pedro and Rabbi Marc are good friends and have collaborated on a number of projects and podcasts.

Registration is required– Please register by Monday June 2nd!
