The purpose of the group is to help members work through the normal grief process, to help move toward integration of that grief, and to establish a base of continued support. The group is facilitated by Julie Mahoney Thomas is a licensed professional counselor and has been in the field of death and dying and grief and loss for 25 years, mostly in hospice settings.

Structure of Group
- You can expect the following in this support group:
- This group will combine an educational and supportive approach.
- Group members are encouraged to participate actively in each session, but will never be pressured to do so.
- Homework assignments will be made available between each session. Group members are encouraged to complete the assignments to maximize the benefit of the group. These exercises are for your benefit and will never be collected or “graded.”
- Group members will respect the confidentiality of whatever is discussed in the group.
- Socializing among group members outside the group sessions is encouraged.
