Wise Aging Group Starts Next Week at the BJCC

As Winter gives way to Spring, a question to consider is: “What personal seeds are you planting now that will sustain you in your ‘third act of life?’” Join us for a 5-week interactive and introspective program to explore the opportunities and challenges of growing older, and growing in wisdom. Together we will share our experiences and use mindfulness practices, journaling, meditation and artistic expression as tools for connecting to ourselves and others. This program is open to all those who identify as female age 60+.

The material from the sessions will draw from the book “Wise Aging: Living With Joy, Resilience and Spirit,” written by Rabbi Rachel Cow an and Linda Thal as well as other sources that offer positive aging, Jewish wisdom and mindfulness perspectives. The group will meet on Thursdays, January 12, 19, 26 and February 2, 16 from 10 – 11:30 am at the BJCC. The fee to register is $118.

This is the second time the Wise Aging program has been offered in-person by co-facilitators Lori Dube and Rabbi Eva Bolder-Sax. Here is what one of the participants from the last group had to say about her experience:

“The Wise Aging class was the right thing at the right time for me—the month I celebrated a significant benchmark birthday. It was inspiring because it offered multiple avenues to explore the issues of celebrating wise aging instead of fearing it. In fact, our wise aging women group connected so well that we continue to meet on our own. I highly recommend the class and instructors Lori Dube and Rabbi Eva Sax-Bolder.”

Lori Dube is a social worker and life coach trained in Jewish Mindful Meditation, and Wise Aging facilitation. She led a number of virtual Wise Aging groups for the Boulder JCC and around the country during the Pandemic and is excited to facilitate her first in-person group. Rabbi Eva Sax-Bolder served as the Rabbi of The Shul of New York until moving to Boulder in the summer of 2021. She currently serves as the head of spiritual direction for the ALEPH Ordination Program and maintains a private practice as a spiritual companion. Rabbi Eva has facilitated Wise Aging groups in synagogue and community settings for many years, integrating aspects of her training in meditation, mindfulness, and the expressive arts.
