To the Leadership of the American Jewish Congress:
I am very disappointed that your new Guide (“AJC Launches Jewish Guide to US Politics“, July 11, ed.) only addresses issues involving Israel. There are so many issues that Jewish voters care about beyond your list—human and civil rights, poverty, health, and so much more. Torah speaks to all these issues and informs us about the ethical, moral and humane way to address them. Your Guide is incomplete, and implicitly skews in favor of Trump and his minions (Jewish and others), while ignoring the much more critical issues on which they have completely abandoned Torah values. I hope you will expand the Guide to include the really important issues that concern Jews and all responsible voters.

I whole-heartedly agree that the US Jewish community cannot turn away from fundamental values of justice, fairness, compassion for others, and more just because Pres. Trump proclaims support of Israel. As refreshing as that may be in the years past Obama, who naively didn’t seem to “get it”, we cannot conflate Trump’s verbal support of Israel with his sense of any Jewish values. He imbues none!
