Annalies — an Oratorio Based on the “Diary of Anne Frank”

Annalies — an Oratorio Based on the “Diary of Anne Frank”The Boulder Chorale will be singing the regional premiere of “Annelies“–an oratorio created by composer James Whitbourn. It will be sung by the full Chorale choir with clarinet, violin, cello, and piano solos. Soprano Jennifer Bird-Arvidsson is the featured vocal soloist. The oratorio is inspired by “Diary of Anne Frank” and will be performed on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 7:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church at 1421 Spruce St. in Boulder.

On Monday, April 28th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Meadows Branch of the Boulder Public Library at 4800 Baseline Rd., there will be a “Diary of Anne Frank” book discussion group.

On Tuesday, May 6th, there will be an open rehearsal of the oratorio with special guest Anita Budding. Anita is a Boulder resident who, as a Dutch Jewish child, was hidden in home in rural Holland during the war. She attended the same school as Anne Frank and remembers being in Anne’s gym class. The open rehearsal will be preceded by a viewing of Anita’s Shoah (Steven Spielberg’s project) video interview. The video presentation is at 6 pm and the open rehearsal will start at 7:00 pm at Atonement Lutheran Church, 685 Inca Parkway in Boulder.
