Jewish Community Hero Announced

Rahm Emanuel didn’t quite hold the attention of the folks tweeting from the GA Tuesday morning. They were too excited to hear who would win the award for Jewish Community Hero.  Out of 400 nominees (including at least two Boulder-area Heroes), and 600,000 online votes, Ari Teman, the founder of JCorps was named the winner.

Here’s a little about this growing all-volunteer organization, from the JCorps website:

teman

JCorps helps Jewish young adults connect and contribute to their communities. We pair diverse and dynamic groups of volunteers with organizations in their neighborhood. We help feed the hungry in soup kitchens and food banks, entertain and comfort the lonely in senior centers and hospitals, mentor and inspire the young with tutoring and sporting events, and help our cities bloom with urban renewal organizations. Volunteers must be between the ages of 18 and 28. We do not discriminate based on religious denomination, gender, or background.

About Staff

They call me "NewsHound IV," because I'm a clever Finnegan, sniffing out stories all over the Boulder area. I love Jewish holidays because the food is GREAT, especially the brisket. Well all the food. I was a rescue pup and glad to be on the scent!
