Cooking Demonstration with Leah Koenig for Rosh Hashanah

Rosh Hashanah is around the corner and though it will not be business as usual, a special meal may make this time just a bit sweeter. Rosh Hashanah has several foods that help us remember to celebrate a sweet new year, apples, honey, dates, and pomegranates, just to name a few.

The Boulder JCC is happy to offer a number of online cooking classes to help you get ready to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.

Leah Koenig

On September 1, along with 12 other Jewish Community Centers from across the country, we will present Leah Koenig baking along with you with two special and unique desserts. Leah Koenig’s writing and recipes have appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Epicurious, Food52, Departures, and Tablet, among other publications.

Leah is the author of six cookbooks including “The Jewish Cookbook” (Phaidon, 2019) and “Modern Jewish Cooking (Chronicle Books). In addition to writing, Leah also leads cooking demonstrations and workshops around the country and world. She lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and two children.

Leah’s latest book “The Jewish Cookbook” is an inspiring celebration of the diversity and breadth of this venerable culinary tradition. A true fusion cuisine, Jewish food evolves constantly to reflect the changing geographies and ingredients of its cooks. Featuring more than 400 home-cooking recipes for everyday and holiday foods from the Middle East to the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa – as well as contemporary interpretations by renowned chefs including Yotam Ottolenghi, Michael Solomonov, and Alex Raij – this definitive compendium of Jewish cuisine introduces readers to recipes and culinary traditions from Jewish communities the world over, and is perfect for anyone looking to add international tastes to their table.

Leah will be teaching two recipes that the Boulder JCC will send out in advance so you can bake along with her. Your household can register for the baking class here.
