Beth Ami invites you to our Family School Open House this Sunday, September 7th 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Countryside Rec, 10470 Oak, Westminster (near Flatirons Crossing). Our Family School is open to families with children attending preschool through Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We will practice the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing the world).
Together in a family havruta (learning group) we will use hands-on activities to learn about hunger in Colorado. We will also study Hebrew, sing Jewish songs, and learn about Rosh Hashanah as cultural Jews.
Beth Ami’s Family School meets twice a month. On Sept. 21st families will do a mitzvah project at Ekar Farms, 1815 S. Oneida St. Denver, 80230. We will harvest Ekar’s fresh vegetables to be donated to the Weinberg Pantry, Same Café, and Kavod Senior Life. Families will also learn about Ekar Farm’s bees and practice a Rosh Hashanah tradition by dipping Ekar Farm apples into Ekar Farm honey.
Families may enroll for eight sessions or for the sessions they can attend. Our family school is open to Beth Ami members and nonmembers.
Humanistic Judaism is the fifth denomination within Judaism. It combines attachment to Jewish identity and culture with a human-centered approach to life. It defines Judaism as the historical and cultural experiences of the Jewish people. Humanistic Judaism affirms that people are independent of supernatural authority and responsible for themselves and their behavior.
