Denver, CO, December 24, 2014 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today issued the following statement in response to anti-Israel ads reading, “Israel’s War Crimes, Your Tax Dollars at Work,” that are scheduled to appear on seven Regional Transportation District (RTD) buses in Denver through January 17.
Scott L. Levin, ADL Mountain States Regional Director, stated:
We are deeply disturbed by ads that falsely accuse Israel of “war crimes” appearing on RTD buses this holiday season. Such outrageous claims go beyond the boundaries of acceptable political discourse around the competing narratives of Israelis and Palestinians. No credible claim of “war crimes” has ever been sustained against Israel. These ads, placed by anti-Israel groups, are part of a larger campaign to delegitimize and demonize the Jewish state.
While we believe that the ads are a form of protected speech under the First Amendment, we strongly object to their offensive message. Ads like these are inaccurate, inflammatory, and divisive. They mislead and misinform the public and do nothing to advance peace.”
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
ROCKY MTN PEACE AND JUSTICE CENTER IS FULL OF A BUNCH OF
MISGUIDED MORONIC PEOPLE; THEY ARE THE ONES PUTTING UP
SUCH GARBAGE; WE JEWS NEED TO HAVE A CONFRONTATION WITH
THEM, REALLY, AND TEACH THEM CORRECT FROM INCORRECT
For what it's worth, here's my unpublished letter to the Daily Camera:
Ron Forthofer contributed to the $350 or so sourced by the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center to support “Israel’s War Crimes, Your Tax Dollars at Work” pictorial ads on RTD buses, that he does not personally “view” or “feel” are “anti-Israeli,” but are instead merely anti-Israeli government (Group backs ads… DC 12/24/2014 p. 1-2C). This implies that Mr. Forthofer might object if the ads were, in fact, anti-Israeli, and leaves me wondering if he asked any Israelis how they “feel”. As one Israeli citizen, I feel the ads are grossly anti-Israeli. The Israeli government is the outcome of a vibrant, democratic, multi-party electoral process whose voter participation levels put those of the U.S. to shame. The government’s handling of last summer’s war with Hamas in Gaza – particularly after the attack tunnels (built with foreign tax dollars) leading to Israeli villages were discovered – polled at 90% approval. The Israeli military is comprised of nearly across-society conscripts, including those from households and political parties that oppose government policies vis-a-vis the Palestinians. On March 17, 2015, I will not be voting for the Likud Party of Prime Minister Netanyahu or other closely aligned parties of the current government. But do I feel that the graphic bus ads are anti-Israeli, inflammatory and, by the way, counterproductive to the causes of conflict resolution, "Peace" and "Justice"? Darn right I do.
To "like" this article is uncomfortable. I hope that many people will write letters to the editor complaining about this ad, or write to the RTD, or gather together for an ad listing the amazing things that Israel has provided the world. Does anyone know the cost of the RTD ad?
Falsely accuses Israel of war crimes!!! Not only during war as it was during Gaza decimation but other times also Israel commit crimes. Not even a day passes without the news of trigger happy Jewish soldiers shooting and killing Palestinians for whatever reason they ascribe.Humiliation, check points.ADL is not appalled by these atrocities but making it known is appalling for these fellows. How Palestinians are humiliated and ill treated can be seen from the latest http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/mehdi-hasan/israe…
