Wear Loose Fitting Clothes? Not Your Typical Shabbat

Special Shabbaton this Shabbat – March 5-6

Congregation Har HaShem is delighted to welcome back Rabbi Ben-Chorin from our sister congregation in Israel, Kehilat Sulam Ya’akov.  Join with this wonderful teacher over the course of a special Shabbat.

Friday, March 5th: At 7 PM, welcome in Shabbat with Rabbi Ben-Chorin and Cantorial Soloist Berman as they mix their voices and guitars for a beautiful Shabbat service.  Rabbi Ben-Chorin will also share some words of Torah with us. Services will be in our North Building Sanctuary.

Saturday, March 6th: At 9 AM Rabbi Ben-Chorin will lead the Torah study discussion. Come hear this gifted teacher delve into the weekly Torah portion.  As with all of our Saturday morning Torah discussions, no previous knowledge of Hebrew or Torah is required.  As usual, bagels and coffee will fuel the learning.  Join us in the South Building .

At 10 AM, immediately following the discussion Rabbi Ben-Chorin will lead a one-of-a-kind session combining physical movement and prayer.  The Rabbi will lead participants in exploring the prayers through the lens of the martial art Shin Gi (akin to Tai Chi). Last year this session was very popular and successful. Wear loose fitting clothing.  (We told you – this is not your typical Shabbat!)

At 7 PM we will wrap up with a Har HaShem Coffee House in the North Building as Rabbi Ben-Chorin joins Cantorial Soloi st Berman and Or Zimra, our band, for a musical celebration.  We will make Havdallah together and listen to energizing music as we nosh on desserts, coffee and tea.  Please join us for this special evening. Tickets are $10 each and all funds go to support our sister Congregation Kehilat Sulam Ya’akov in Israel.  Please RSVP to our office, 303 499-7077 or r.farr@harhashem.org.
