Rita Pivan, mother of Jan Sturgeon of Boulder, passed away last night in Chicago. She was 85 years old and is survived by three children, Jan, Mark and Lynn. Rita was a long term member of North Shore Congregation in Chicago where her grandfather was a founding member, and she was very politically active, especially with the League of Women Voters.
Jan and Larry are flying to Chicago today for a service and two days of shiva in Chicago and will be returning to complete the shiva in Boulder.
There will be two evenings of shiva on Sunday and Monday of next week at 7:30 pm at the Sturgeon’s home (contact Bonai Shalom for address).
The family has requested that in lieu of any flowers, contributions of Tzedakah can be made, according to Rita’s wishes, to the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
Alah hashalom, peace on Rita’s (Rivkah’s) soul and strength and comfort to Jan and her family.
