At JFS, we understand that grief touches each person in a unique way and that grieving is a process, sometimes marked by sadness or anger, and we know that there is no right or wrong way to experience it. JFS supports individuals and families as they navigate these difficult moments, offering support, compassion, and resources to help honor their experiences and begin to find healing.
JFS Boulder hosts a monthly Grief Counseling Group that provides a welcoming and safe place for community members to share their grief, be witnessed by each other, and create connections with one another.
The group is facilitated by Hannah Salander, MA, LPC, ATR, who shares, “Judaism provides the banks to a river of life, loving and letting go. It is a structure we can lean into when grieving, whether that be due to the loss of a loved one, or any other kind of loss that touches our life (a new phase in life, a move, a loss of friendship, a divorce, or as we face the pain of the world and the loss inherent in war, poverty and the state of our planet). Our tradition teaches us the value and mitzvah of remembering, the sacred duty of honoring life, and that there is support through a rhythm of holy time, and through connection within community.”
