It’s hard to believe that next week is May 1! Here’s your reminder to register for all of our wonderful Men of the J programs each month. Last week was the first meeting for MOTJ Book Group & Schmooze. Please see below for details about the group and the book for May. Meanwhile here is the line-up for the rest of May’s fun events:
- MOTJ Discussion Group – May 7 at 4:40 pm
- Men’s Breakfast – May 14 at 8:30 am
- MOTJ Book Group & Schmooze – May 15 at 10 am
- MOTJ Hike – May 20 at 9 am
- MOTJ Brewery Meet Up – May 22 at 5:30 pm
Another very important reminder: next Thursday, May 1, we will be celebrating Israel’s 77th Independence Day with renowned Israeli photographer Erez Kaganovitz. Erez will be engaging us in discussion about the beautiful people of Israel and how they’re rebuilding since 10/7. We will view his compelling photo exhibit and hear stories about the diversity and culture that pulses through Israel at Celebrate the Humans of Israel.
Book Group Info:
- MOTJ Book Group & Schmooze will meet on the third Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the BJCC.
- At the next meeting (May 15) we will discuss Shalom Auslander’s new book, Feh: A Memoir, and decide on books for the next several months.
- You are welcome to recommend a book — fiction or nonfiction, Jewish themed or not. The only restriction is that the book be no more than about 350 pages. People should explain, briefly, why they are recommending the book (they’ve already read it, positive reviews, recommended by a friend, liked other works by the same author, etc.) If no one objects, that will be added to our list and scheduled for a future meeting.
- The person who recommended the book is expected to kick-off the discussion about the book, perhaps saying why he liked it or didn’t, etc. We’ll then have a discussion of the book.
See you in May!
