Join the Walk for Hostages: October 20 in Boulder

Join the Walk for Hostages: October 20 in Boulder

The New Year is upon us; it is also upon them. A new year of birthdays that the hostages still in captivity do not get to celebrate with friends and families. October 14th was Omer Neutra’s birthday. Earlier in the week was the birthday of Yarden Bibas, father of those two beautiful red-headed babies, Kfir and Ariel. Their suffering is unimaginable.

Each week we begin our walks with a dedication. On October 20th, we will walk in honor, and in memory, of the 13 women still held captive in Gaza.

Please, walk with us. And even if you can’t walk with us, please share about Run For Their Lives. Join our Facebook group to see posts about each of the hostages. Copy and share them, add to their stores in the comments. Help keep the hostages in the headlines.

I hope many of you will there with us in solidarity and in community, Jews and nonJews. As noted below, this is a humanitarian crisis. We have walked in the streets for so many others. Now we need to walk for us.

Shana tova. Wishing all of you a year of peace, of love, and of health. And perhaps by some holiday miracle, the hostages will be released by Sukkot and we will not have to keep doing these walks.

Sunday, October 20th, marks the 380th day, since 240 hostages were kidnapped from Israel and taken to Gaza. 101 of them, seven of whom are American citizens, still remain captive there. Please – join us this Sunday to walk for all those still held hostage. The world cannot forget. Please bring posters and flags (or you can borrow from us) and wear red.

The local Boulder chapter of Run For Their Lives (part of the larger Bring Them Home Now initiative) has been walking in downtown Boulder every week. There are multiple groups like ours meeting internationally and across US cities (including a local Denver chapter). Our group has about 220 members, and has not missed a walk since Thanksgiving Weekend 2023.

Our group meets at 1 pm on the corner of Pearl & 8th and walks the length of the Pearl Street Mall and back, stopping at the courthouse for a brief video that the leads of Run For Their Lives include in their weekly recap. The goal is to share the message far and wide (specifically via social media) that the hostages have not been forgotten. This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release.

When: Sunday, October 20th at 1 pm
Meet-up: Corner of Pearl & 8th Street
