Dear Letter to the Editor:
In January 1942 at the Wannsee Conference many Nazi officials with doctoral degrees crafted the Final Solution of the Jews known as the Wannsee Protocols. Their intellectual credentials in that context seemed to enhance their Jew hatred. Recently a similar albeit not identical demonstration of the seamless melding of Jew hatred and anti-intellectualism occured.
Alan Dershowitz in writing about a recent speech he gave at Yeshiva University’s Cardozo Law School described the fact for him to mention Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s commitment to fight antisemitism in all its iterations was a “provocation” to this audience of law professors and law students. Of course Bayard Rustin, Rosa Parks and countless other members of the civil rights movement supported Dr. King in his human rights crusade to fight antisemitism.
Clearly for these “intellectuals” at Cardozo Law School — professors and law students — to view Dr. King’s fight against antisemitism as a “provocation” is certainly a starting point for similar “intellectuals” today to meld their Jew hatred and intellectual credentials and craft a 21st century Wannsee Protocols.
